What cookies are

Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. Local storage works similarly. Both let a site remember technical details between page views.

Essential

A small number of entries are needed for the site to load and display correctly. These cannot be switched off without breaking the site.

Analytics

We measure aggregate behaviour — page views, how far down a page readers scroll, and which outbound links are clicked — so we know which reviews are useful. These measurements are not used to identify individuals.

Affiliate attribution

When you click a product link, the retailer may set a cookie so it can credit the referral to us. That cookie is set by the retailer under its own policy, typically lasting from a day to a few weeks.

Controlling cookies

Every major browser lets you view, block and delete cookies in its privacy settings, and most offer a private browsing mode that discards them when you close the window. Blocking affiliate cookies does not change the price you pay; it only means we are not credited.
